Dear Protestants

To My Protestant Friends

Sometimes Protestants have misunderstood the significance and importance of the cathedrals of the Catholic Church. St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City took my breath away. I cannot even fathom what it must be like to actually see the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. Catholic or not. Believer or not. The historical significance alone goes without saying.

But to my Protestant Christians, I know what you might be thinking. What is with all the symbolism? Why all the grandeur when the Bible is all you need? Why all the statues when Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life? What are Catholics actually worshipping?

To be able to understand a place of worship that is so beautiful and grand and magnificent, first, you must try and open your eyes and let what you see before you do the work. Stop over thinking Exodus 20: 4-5  “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below, You shall not bow down to them or worship them…”

What you see in these glorious cathedrals are not false idols or deities. You are in the presence of craftsmanship, by the most sophisticated artists, who wished to bring beauty to the place they felt closest to God. These artisans, like us, were made by our Creator, in His image. They used their God-given talents to bring wondrous and awe-inspiring sculptures, stained glass windows, paintings, and architecture to honor the Lord. Not to replace Him.

Places of Worship can be Artful Masterpieces and Houses of God

Sometimes we just need to shut off our brains and let our hearts feel. Or shut off our hearts and let our brains think. Sometimes we need to shut off both and just allow the eyes to gaze. Especially in a cathedral inspired by God’s love and grace.

Catholics know they live a flawed life, full of sin, therefore constantly needing forgiveness. Catholics know that attending Mass on Sunday means being with fellow humans who also live flawed lives, full of sin, also needing forgiveness. Flawed people can worship among statues of Mary, which are meant to honor her for bestowing the greatest gift upon the Earth. Sins can be washed away in places of wondrous beauty.

As Catholics, we can attend church anywhere in the world, regardless if we know the language. Our church is universal and we shall still receive the Body of Christ. Worshipping in a place built by our flawed and forgiven ancestors serves as a reminder. God’s forgiveness is as abundant and glorious as the cathedral that the eye beholds. So when a magnificent cathedral like Notre Dame burns the significance and sadness are hard to escape.

Our journey with faith and God is personal. How God feeds our individual souls is as multi-faceted as the human race which He created. As Catholics sometimes our biggest flaw, most consistent sin, isn’t admitting our mistakes, rather failing to seek God’s forgiveness. If anything good can come from such a destructive fire let it be the this: as Catholics we need to stop whatever is causing our internal burning and remember that God is always seeking to put out the flames. Forgiveness is never more than a simple prayer away.

So to my Protestant friends, our great churches, cathedrals, statues, artwork, and symbolism are not what Catholics are worshipping. The grandeur is to reverence God, not to replace the Bible. We worship God’s greatest gift, His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, for whoever believes in Him shall have eternal life.

Peace be with you.

Why Do So Many Jews Vote Democrat?

So Why Do So Many Jews Vote Democrat?

Democrats and liberals are becoming increasingly Pro-Palestine and Anti-Israel.  They believe that Israel is an illegitimate state and Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal.  Several prominent Democrats such as Bernie Sanders (who claims he is Jewish by the way) have criticized Israel in recent statements.  So to understand why so many Jews vote Democrat, I interviewed Jewish Closet on the Right member, Cody Hug.

Why do you feel so many Jewish people vote Democrat when the Party is almost entirely Pro-Palestine/Anti-Israel?

Fake Jew Bernie SandersThe people who vote Democrat and adhere to liberal views are mainly Jewish people that are secular or non-practicing Jews.  The more secular they are, the more liberal they will be.-Cody Hug

sec·u·lar:  not subject to or bound by religious rule; not belonging to or living in a monastic or other order (non-practicing Jew)

However, Cody states that many Jews who emigrated here in the 1920’s were coming from predominantly socialist countries.  Therefore, bringing a more left-leaning base of ideology with them. He also points out that many Jews, even today don’t fully understand what socialism is all about.

Case in point, Nazi Germany which was literally founded by the National Socialist German Workers’ Party of Adolf Hitler.  We all know how that ended.

What about practicing Jews though?

On the other side of the coin, Orthodox Jews (and other jews who are practicing and adhere to Judaism) are very much conservative.

Now, when we discuss Orthodox Jews, Cody made it clear that this did not mean they support a political party or even have an interest in politics.  It just means they study the Torah, Tanakh, and Talmud, which are the Jewish Holy Books. These books teach very conservative principles, especially on social issues.

Example: The books believe in the sanctity of life which translates into a very pro-life stance in the Republican vs. Democrat debate.

Furthermore, the scriptures teach to love Israel and their people.  The only “side” that does this is the right.  Therefore, the more secular you are, the less pro-Israel you become.

It’s sad to say, but many people who are leftists and liberals who claim their Jewish identiy as somehow a reason to why their views are correct, are simply hijacking the Jewish faith and using it as a bait and switch.

Being that Cody grew up a Democrat and eventually joined the #WalkAway Campaign, my next question was naturally:

When did you realize the Democratic Party wasn’t right for you?

Cody’s path to Conservatism started around the age of 13.  However, it was several significant events that shaped the way he sees the world today.

NJROTC Cadets

  1. He enrolled in NJROTC in High School which instilled a strong sense of patriotism in him and taught him a lot about American History. (Why is it that those two factors almost ALWAYS make someone a Conservative? Has anyone else noticed?)
  2. Working in the entertainment industry, Cody learned very quickly that the left was very intolerant.  They demand that you believe exactly as they do. Anything that deviates from the norm is unacceptable and will be punished (usually by public mockery).  He found that “closeted conservatives” were rather pleasant to be around.  This shocked him as he was indoctrinated to believe they are the enemy.
  3. Ultimately, growing his faith led him to a path of conservatism.  By becoming more in-tune with his spiritual studies, the progression became organic in nature.

Clearly, the high-profile, liberal Jews of the Democratic party do not represent the true Jewish culture AT ALL.

Let’s keep moving though because I feel like we’re all learning a lot here.

How does the Jewish Community feel about topics like gun control and other issues?

I was surprised to discover that many welfare programs are strongly supported by those in the Jewish community.  The main reason is that Jews are very community oriented and feel it is their duty to ensure everyone is taken care of.

Jews are very dedicated to community involvement and volunteering in charities.

So in many ways, this is a big factor when considering how to vote and may explain a lot.  It also explains why they tend to support more socialist platforms because on the surface, they sound great.

Jews Voting Democrat Lead to Their Near Extermination

Issues like gun control, however, are not quite as simple to pinpoint.  Many who study the Talmudic teachings opt out of gun ownership because this scripture mandates Jews are to avoid unnecessary danger.

However, the Talmudic teachings also say:

If someone comes to kill you, rise up and kill him first. -Talmudic Scripture

On the flip side, Jews have been the target for violent religious persecution for thousands of years.  Obviously, when a community cannot defend itself, it is much easier to exterminate and control.

Hopefully, many Jews have learned to embrace a more proactive approach to preventing history from repeating itself.

Conclusion

The political history of the Jewish people is an extremely complex and difficult issue to cover in one article. We could spend weeks if not months trying to unpack the history and details of one the world’s oldest religions.  However, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out the left has repeatedly betrayed the Jewish community.

Based on what we’ve learned here, it’s clear to see why there are stark differences in ideology.  Those committed to their faith and implementing it in their lives are far more aligned with conservatives.  Ben Shapiro, for example, is a prominent Conservative and is also an Orthodox Jew.

Secular Jews which carry only the name and none of the actual beliefs, remind me quite of bit of what they call a “RINO” or Republican in name Only.  They may claim the name, but it is merely a title and nothing more.

I don’t think it would be too much of a stretch to consider secular, liberal Jews a threat to the Jewish community.

Their pro-Palestinian stance is very antisemitic at its core.  The gun control legislation they push in modern times is the same legislation that helped the Nazis round everyone up into concentration camps.  The socialism they advocate is the same snake oil sold to the people of Germany.

So my question to the Jewish community is, how much longer will you continue to support a party that does not care about your communities?  A party with candidates that claim to be one of you, only to turn their backs on you for political gain?  This party that pushes for the same legislation that lead to a near extermination of your people less than 100 years ago?

They have taken your votes for granted for too long.  Reaped the benefits of your loyalty only to turn their backs on you.

It’s time to #WalkAway.
